Black Beauty

by A Phoenyx in Flight   Jan 22, 2008

At the sound of his pounding hooves i come.
He is the misfit of the group.
The only one of his kind.
That is why i love him so.
The only thing that keeps us apart,
is the great tall fence.

He knows I'm coming
by the way his hoof is pounding at the fence.
The others know but i don't take notice.
I've come for only him.
He greets me with a nicker
as if saying hello.

I feed him from under the fence
the grass i picked him.
He stares at me with those giant chocolate eyes.
His muzzle is soft against my hand.
He hesitates before he takes.
But he trusts me. I can tell in
those eyes of his.

He looks like the horse in the movie Black Beauty.
Right down to the white tuff of hair on his forehead.
The only difference is he is a pony.
That is why i call him
Black Beauty.

Your poet heart speaks well. I really liked your poem and the way it flowed with words chosen for just the right moment as your poem began to speak of that heart. Keep up the good works….I’ll be reading more…
