Dear Depression

by EssenceOfLace   Jan 24, 2008

I try to run,
But I can't get free.
Let me go,
You can't have me.

I am not your toy,
For you to play your game.
You're sick and demented,
You should be ASHAMED.

I go towards the light,
But you grab me by my chains,
"You thought wrong little girl,
YOU'LL never get away."

I know when you are lurking,
From the feeling in the air.
Why can't I leave?
You know this isn't fair.

The room spins in circles,
As I try to catch my breath.
You think I'll finally give in,
That this will be my death.

You are wrong,
If this is what you believe.
I'm sorry Dear Depression,
YOU'LL NEVER CONTROL ME!

Bravo dear girl ... that is an ending I love to hear. It shouts strength and freedom.

Such sadness penned up until the last stanza them Wham .... you deliver an excellent inspiring ending. Well done Lace!

The flow was spot on, pace conveyed the feeling of escaping the depression and the rhyme was really natural. Great use of personification and a fantastically strong message. 5/5
