One Year Ago

A year ago, the last time I saw you,
You looked so handsome and so sweet.
I will always remember that day,
As if from God, a very special treat.
I look outside and walk around,
But then I stare into the sky.
The clouds are starting to form,
Just like the tears before I cry.
It begins to rain.
I feel the pain.
I dream of your eyes.
I wonder if you hear my cries.

"Remember me," I hear him say, in my head,
And "Think of the good times."
I can't always tell if Chad is around,
So I pay attention, and I look for signs.
Spring is now here again,
The rain fell down like tears.
I wish he was here,
He always protected me from all of my fears.
My best friend left me here alone,
And it's been a year since I last saw him.
He held me all night and gave me a hug,
To remind me that we'd always be best friends.
I will always remember "The Chad,"
He'll forever live in my heart.
Even though he is gone,
We'll never be apart.
