Patience Leigh Payton.

It seemed like you took forever to come,
Everybody was anticipating;
Your mom tried to keep her cool before the C-section;
And left the rest of us waiting.

"I wonder what she'll look like,"
Is the main thing that came to my mind.
I didn't know if you'd look like most new babies do,
Or if you'd be one of a kind.

And the next thing you know the doctor announced,
"Congratulations, our girl is finally here!"
All of us were so happy,
Every one of us shed a few tears.

I felt so bad, you know,
Because your Daddy couldn't be there to see you,
But at the same time, I was filled with joy,
Because your Mommy finally got to meet you.

The first time I laid eyes on you,
You were laying in the little crib,
I smiled so bright, the nurses laughed,
"She's such a beautiful little thing."

And although you're not actually my blood,
I couldn't care any less;
Because your my niece, plan and simple,
Anything else doesn't make sense.

You're a terribly lucky baby girl,
Because of all the love that surrounds you.
You became everyone's little princess;
And we didn't even crown you.

As your Auntie Keara, I'd like to say,
Welcome to the world, we're glad you're finally here.
Have no worries, we all love you;
And we will always be here.

Love you Patience!
