They were the brave ones
The ones who protected us when we were weak.
The ones everyone searched for
Who yelled when we were too afraid to speak.

They saved our lives
Raised our spirits when they were low.
And when they were scared
They wouldn’t dare let it show.

These people were friends and family members
They risked their lives for us.
They deserve our respect
Our gratitude and trust.

Can you guess who they are yet?
They are our veterans of course.
Do you know why we love them?
They protected and enforced.

They saved many lives
Lost to many to count.
By doing that
They led us to surmount.

Please take this day to thank them
Without them many more would be dead.
Thank them from your heart and mean it
Many tears have been shed.
