DO YOU SEE ME

WHAT DO PEOPLE SEE,
WHEN THEY LOOK AT ME ?

DO THEY SEE THE REAL ME,

OR JUST THE AVERAGE GIRL ?

DO THEY SEE PAIN AND SUFFERING,

OR DEEPER INSIDE AN INNOCENT GIRL SMILING

WHEN THEY LOOK INTO MY EYES,

OR DO THEY JUST SEE

ANOTHER SET OF DARK BROWN EYES ?

DO THEY ONLY SEE ME.

PHYSICALLY,

SUCH AS MY THICK THIGHS

OR MY SEXY CHOCOLATE COMPLEXION ?

DO THEY SEE MY AFFECTION,

COMPASSION,

CANDOR,

WONDER ?

DO THEY SEE THESE THINGS

INSIDE OF ME ?

CAN THEY SEE

RIGHT THROUGH ME,

AS IF I WAS TRANSPARENT

INDEED ?

THESE THINGS I QUESTION,

BECAUSE I'M CURIOUS ABOUT YOUR OPINION.

WHEN YOU LOOK AT ME,

DO YOU SEE THE INNER ME,

MY BEAUTY AND PERSONALITY,

OR IS THIS JUST

A PHYSICAL THING???

    I like this poem a whole lot and I often times I wish that people could see "ME." Not on the outside, but the person who I really am. I've come up that in order for someone to see me they have to know me. Of course it's hard for us to get past the physical, but when you do, it can be uphill from there. Then you may come across people can see through you and know that you are hurting and will encourage you. Just as fast as they came, they leave even faster. Like you I wish that people could see "ME"
