Until We Get Caught

by Jenni Marie   Jan 29, 2008

{And as you take me into your arms everything's okay}

Head against your chest, eyes closed in contentment
Slowly beginning to feel as if I'm on top of the world
Listening to your racing heart, bittersweet smile appears
Imagining how blessed I'd feel if I were your only girl

It's a little ironic that your kiss now means everything
Yet I'm constantly thinking about you being with her
Resentment and envy quickly rises, wanting to vomit
How did I come to love a married man? This isn't fair

{When you whisper "love you," wonder if you still tell her}

Yet whenever I'm in your embrace, I'm finally content
Anger, resentment, guilt, well those emotions disappear
And for a while everything's perfect one more time
But I know when you leave I'll cry those pesky tears

How can I feel so many conflicting emotions simultaneously
They're like a soundtrack, swimming constantly in my head
Fully aware each night you nestle in her unsuspecting arms
Yet constantly I'm still foolishly letting you take me to bed

{And we'll continue what we're doing until we get caught}

    The title on this one caught my attention.

    I like that you start off with the line in brackets. It seemed like a forethought that would be whispered before the poem actually started.

    This is another well written poem; you seem to have a way with expressing your thoughts / emotions on the same subject across many poems without being redundant. I like how the entire poem seems to be a rhetorical question; it really shows that you seem caught between right and wrong; good and evil.

    I also like the ending; how you know that your going to get caught sooner or later, but dont seem to care.

    Its funny that you can trust someone that cheats on one person to be with you; sometimes the heart just wants what it wants.

    Good job.
