Lost

by Edward Latina   Jan 29, 2008

Bright Lights fade in the East,
Out there they are taken by the Beast.
Men and Women like us more and more,
Falling to the Beast called War.

Dear Friends fleeing this life,
They have left behind this endless strife.
By God's grace they now live new,
They are known as the Few.

The people who fight for this world,
Who are lost to this painful world,
These Few can proudly say,
"I've beaten the Beast today."

This poem is one of the few I've written recently which I dedicate to the Men and Women fighting the War in the East. I recently recieved word that one of my dear friends lost his life protecting a village from a Taliban attack. His commanding officer told me that he went in a flare though, and didn't leave us until he KNEW those people of the village were safe. Truly this man was a Hero by any standard, and I want others to know that there are more people just like this man still fighting and they need our support more than anything. I ask that anyone who reads this poem to NOT forget those men and women who served the People of the world selflessly and lost everything for it, and keep in heart and mind the people still out there. God Bless all.
