Soldier

by lost   Jan 30, 2008

I witness as this soldier flys
Over to the war at hand
The confidence
The bravery
I witness as this mother cries
As her son is sent to war
To battle that unknown force
The fear
The sadness
I witness as this wife lies
On her bed all alone
Looking at his picture
The hope
The uncertainty
I witness as this child smiles
As he read the letter that he wrote
The joy
The love
I witness as this soldier dies
At the hand of a man
He never knew
The pain
The relief
I witness as this caskets closed
And all the people salute him
Paying him his finale honor
Showing him their last respects
The mother
The wife
The child
All united by a single man
Who know they live without
Because a war they never fought
