Still She Weeps (Agony Under A Tree)

by Confined   Jan 30, 2008

Alone she sat;
Beneath a tree,
Beside a grave,
Behind the tombstone.

Tears slipped silently
Down her already
Mascara streaked face,
And in the shade of the
Tall, strong rowan,
She Wept and Wept,
Thinking of
Those dreamily spent
Days in his arms.
She still couldnt
Get him out of her head.

Seemingly talking to herself
She said;
'I miss you still,
How could this
Have happened,
We were so happy.'

A pause.

'I dont sleep at night anymore,
And when I do it is restless
But sometimes I dream.'

A faint hint of a smile
In her voice;
'Though they are of you,
They are what keeps me going,
I cant live without you,
But neither can I die,
I dont understand
Why this had to be.....'

'I miss you...'

She let her head
Drift backwards onto the tree,
And as she
looked up into its branches,
She said, for the first time,
The words she was too afraid
To say while he lived.

'I love you.'
