My Journey

There are few who grasp
The depth of emptiness
That consumes a woman's heart -
A woman whose
Growth was stunted
By the absence of a father -
Not knowing his counsel,
His love,
His comfort.
Living without his kisses,
His hugs,
His correction.

Few who grasp
The severity of
Her deficiency,
Her loneliness,
Her thirst for love
And companionship.

All in the hope of finding Him -

Her Daddy.

There are few who see
That her esteem
Is bruised,
Broken
By the vain promises
Of men who -
Like her lost father -
Have left her
Heart shattered...
Her perception of reality
Twisted
By dreams and fantasies -
Nightmares when she sleeps.

Few who know
The sting that she feels
When she looks in the mirror
And sees herself.

Few who understand why
The woman denies
The existence of her own Beauty.

She is a queen
Without a crown -

She longs for her Daddy.
