I'm standing on the ledge,
Looking at the world below me,
The world that's just passing me by,
That will never even notice that I'm not around.
I remove the chain from around my neck,
The one holding your picture in a locket,
And let it slip from my hands.
I watch as it plummets
Into the rushing crowd below me.
When it finally hits the ground,
A man stops to pick it up.
He looks around to see if anyone had lost it,
Then puts it into his pocket and carries on walking by,
Becoming another blurry ant in the bustling crowds.
No one thinks to look up.
No one hears me crying.
No one notices me up here.
No one sees me falter.
No one hears me scream.
No one knows I am falling.
No one moves when I land -
They just step over me.
No one stops to check on me
Because no one realises I am dying.
