she smiled and said
oh, if only he knew
what was going through her head
he smiled and laughed,
but he didn't care
as he sifted his hand
through her long silky hair
"this is our only life,
let's enjoy it together"
he looked at her in lust
though it was him she treasured
they kissed and his eyes
became dark and dim
all she wanted
was to be with him
"but it's not what i want"
he said and looked away
she forced a fake smile
like she did every day
he liked her a lot
she knew this so stayed
hoping someday
these games wont be played
"maybe sometime..."
he stopped her with a kiss
he always avoided
conversations like this
a real smile appeared
but one she did hate
she only wanted to know
if he'd ever relate
that was the last time
he'd ever see her face
for she decided feelings
were due to be erased
he'd call her every day after
his days filled with bore
she denied each ring
and wouldn't answer her door
two weeks went by
without hearing her voice
he was going to give up
then made one last choice
"we only live once,
let's enjoy life together"
she read the text aloud
as she stood in rainy weather
she shut her phone quick
then began to cry
and shoved it in her pocket
she was sick of his lies
she didn't respond
though he waited all day
and stared at his phone
for his ring tone to play
the text made her happy
yet her heart was so weak
she turned off her phone
and cried herself to sleep
"you only live once,
but you must realize too..."
he read and dropped his head
"...my life doesn't wait on you"
