New Found Friends

by Indian Comma Bean   Feb 1, 2008

Here's to the years,
The days full of tears,
The nights full of tossing,
Hours upon hours as my thoughts are crossing.

Every time I came around,
I found new friends; I lost the old,
From each of them I learned much more,
From all of them I felt gentle warmth.

I met a woman who knew I cared,
Her poems held such deeper meaning,
I read her work and simply stared,
My mind and soul left peacefully leaning.

I met another who offered me knowledge,
She poured out her soul into poetic script.
She had the creativity of a mastermind,
For she had mastered linguistic artistry.

For my eyes now see,
That it is my time to take my leave,
My hands quiver as I write this poem,
My eyes water as I recite these words.

The time has come and the bell is tolling,
The sun is falling and the clouds are rolling.
My eyes are crashing and my fingers fumbling,
My heart is bleeding and my soul is stumbling.

Feeling what I've never felt before,
Seeing what my virgin eyes have missed before,
My heart feeling what I've restrained before,
Now it is time for my poet to be leaving;

For the poet inside me is lost,
But with my lack of guidance,
I have found knowledge,
And this knowledge is my honor to receive-

Because it came from my new found friends,
And my new found soul will never leave,
It will never leave behind
what they have forever embodied in me.

This poem is dedicated to Katrina and Hazel, and to the rest of the poets out there who have read my poetry and have talked to me or even just stopped by and sent me a hello, All of you brightened my day and in that made me a better person. Peace be with you my new found friends.
