A Happy Valentines Day.

by Phantasmagoria   Feb 3, 2008

Sorrow goes hand in hand with regret
crashing through the hallways
burning empathy in their path.
How must they feel to be hurt again
by boys full of broken promises
and lies disguised by an imitation love?
What must she think as she sings to the sun,
feeding to it a forgotten universe and
a lost past, all the wasted breaths in time?
One could count audacity on their hands;
the number of times they tried to be brave
only to fall once more to some prevailing
masked antagonist.
Mankind slaughters itself and
the moon watches on her high horse
watching the water sway and the sun die,
shedding blood into the sea.
Valentines Day is a war not worth fighting
one would be kind enough without another,
speaking riddles into keyboards
and letting humanity break apart beneath the screen.
