Freebird

by Kelsey   Feb 3, 2008

There is a boy with a striped scarf
and crooked glasses and a crooked grin.
John will belt the high notes for us
and cringe as "Freebird" flows from the amp.
You requested it man
Is all we have to say.
There is a neon glow cast upon our faces
reverberating and making me feel warm.
Warm and comfortable and cozy.
Laughter and music make my heart sing.
Guitar strings make my skin tingle.
A giggle escapes my lips.
So many teeth surround me,
a smile cannot stay off my face.
They speak of The Big Lebowski and Hotel California;
trademarks of my youth.
A falsetto pierces the air
and the Jazzmaster twangs along.
Evenings like this seem to reinstill faith
in life and love and happiness.
I sit in my tie-dye shirt, sweats, and bare feet;
and I feel a connection to the world around me.
Acceptance of fate creates a wisdom deep within.
