Rosy lips and raven hair,
Flying fingers play my senses.
Moonlight on the water,
Snow covering grass.
Pale skin that sets the frozen world on fire,
Earthy eyes that reveal the secrets of the world.
Time stops,
Her hair flies with the wind.
Dusk calls to her,
She flees my arms.
I look at my empty hands,
At the clean snow around me.
There where she stood I see it,
A red rose encased in ice.
Ice that never melts,
Petals that never wilt.
Some times I think I hear it pounding,
I like to think it's her heart,
The beating her yearning to return.
But I know she cannot leave the dusk.
Her rosy lips and raven hair,
Her pale skin and earthy eyes.
Love has fled into the night,
Swallowed by darkness.
I hear her singing though,
When the sun sets on a cold October night.
She remembers my care and kindness,
I only remember her flight from me.
Did darkness take her,
Or did darkness take me?
