The Negro

by black winchester   Feb 4, 2008

These white-black ragged walls
stop me from coming ashore
make me a stranger to land
a baby crawling to its fours
I was shook and tossed in a tempestuous sea
a I climbed to the top of the mast and shouted
I am a Negro
and the God of thunder rolled his drums
to the violent seas
as rain and tears washed my black face
a kiss brushed my cheeks and I heard
people laughing in the dark
then lightning flashed-
and all around me I saw black faces with white faces
black faces all laughing at me
lightning pulled me to his strange quest
and I followed him to land
as the tempest calmed.

Here I am sea-legged crawling an all fours
a stranger to land
I pull myself on mu feet being supported
by a wattle-bark
but it exploded with fire and turns
to charcoal
I fall to the ground blinded
and the world is dark in daylight......
