Unless you were just writing about reaching a book on the top shelf, o'course. That too could be a metaphor, though I prefer my orignal sexier interpretation.

I picture the girl as the type who is going through a complex stage of nervous breakdowns...drug binges, long nights, frantic sex with god knows how many beautiful men.

To me, she sounds like a goddess of the city at night.
