My Reflection

by XJulesX   May 17, 2004

Watching my reflection fall and crash,
like a feeling of whip-lash.

I screamed once the mirror broke.
It was like a feeling of choke.

Pick up the pieces one by one.
Now the tears start to run.

Sitting here thinking for awhile,
looking at the pieces sitting in a pile.

Each edge had a sharp point.
But my life was so young and buoyant.

Digging deep into my skin,
the broken mirror soon will win.

Just one move then a crash,
my life was gone in a flash.

I wish my reflection didn't fall or break,
because it was my life to try and take.

I found this poem to be interesting, but some of the phrasing was awkward. Making this poem rhyme was definitely a good idea, but some of the rhymes seemed forced, and in the end I'm not sure what the message was. I suppose the mirror was supposed to be your life? Or was it that you were trying to commit suicide? Did your reflection die instead of you? Hmm, I think I'm getting progressively worse and worse at interpreting poems...
