Pushover no more

by Alison   Feb 5, 2008

I woke up with a knife in my back this morning and I thought of you
And all the things you did to me
You thought I didn't see
So stab me in the back again
And lie right to my face
Feed me a line of stories
And talk about me when I'm not there
Why don't you push me over and kick me while I'm down

I'm not the push over anymore

Stab me in the back again
And give me that innocent stare
You know what you're doing

Even pushovers reach their breaking point

Keep lying to me
Keep trying to get some pity

Try to break me down

I found a knife in my hand this morning
And you were on the floor

Pushover
Pushover
No more

I love the last three lines. This poem has potential to be read as Slam Poetry.

The only suggestion I have for you is, keep your grammar consistent with certain words. In this case, push-over had the hyphen left out once. It may be best to add that back in or take it out...
