The Girl

by Amby Mae   May 17, 2004

She wished for someone
to come take her away
and promised herself of a
better day.

She forgot what the sun
looked like being in her
dark basement room
and all of her thoughts
were filled with sadness
gloom.

In her dreams is were she
would escape the pain,
that burned her body like
acid rain.

There the breeze blew softy
through her hair and she ran
through flower fields with
out any care.

There she was softy kissed
by butterflies. The thought
of the morning brought tears
to her eyes.

For she knew that dad would
be drunk again and the fighting
and hitting would quickly begin.

She wished to never wake from
this dream, but it was too late
her name he screamed.

She pulled the blankets over her
Head, but he just pulled
Them off of her bed.

She tried to escape but he just held
Her down and she tried to scream,
But made no sound.

He hit her hard in the face
and threw her into a
bookcase.

Blood dripped from her nose
as he ripped off her clothes.

He picked her up and threw
Her on the bed. All night She
wished she were dead.

The more she screamed the
harder he hit, she knew this
night she'd never forget.

Once he was done, he
Walked up stairs. She laid
in the corner with her bears.

In the morning mom found her on the floor. Mom picked her up and ran her out the door.

She was still breathing so Mom knew she was alive.
Mom was so panicked she Forgot how to drive.

As mom pulled her limp body from the van, she wondered why she married that man.

Mom sat by her side and held her hand and remembered when they ran through the sand.

When mom cried in her room after her fight with dad she would say “mommy don't be sad.”

In the waiting room mom stared at her shoes, waiting for the doctors news.

The doctor finally came with head was bowed down. There wasn't good news from the look of his frown.

He said I'm sorry she didn't make it, her little body just couldn't take it.

The doctor just stood there and watched mom cry and he felt a tear fall from his eye.

Mom thought to herself, why dose my baby have to die? Mom wasn't ready to say good bye.

As mom held her baby in her arms and she remembered how she loved lucky charms.

Her skin was like silk and her eyes were so deep, she looked like an angel in her sleep.

She was just 3 and the world was still new, but god only knows what she's been through.

The man who killed her wasn't her dad, but he took it out on her when he got mad.

That night mom returned home full of hate. She thought this guy was her soul mate.

When he came home late that night, he was angered by the sight.

Mom's room was empty and she was gone. The only thing left was the picture of her spawn.

The girl's room looked like he left it last, this was getting confusing fast.

The only thing different was the note on the bed, he picked it up, read it and this is what it said:

Dear one I once loved,
Now that your reading this I'll be gone, I'll never forgive you for what you've done. You took my pride, you took my joy. You threw her around just like a toy. I loved her more than you could think, so took her faster than a blink. I don't wanna live, but I don't wanna die. All I can do is sit and cry. If I ever see you again, it will be too soon. You pierced my soul with a harpoon.
Always,
Lucy
