America Crying

by Lisa   May 17, 2004

I hear America crying
Late into the night
I see America working hard
Fighting for their rights

I hear the sound of depressing teens
Trying to fit in
I hear tears fall to the ground
From the bottles of beer they drink
I hear their lungs inhaling deep
The smoke of Mary Jane
I hear them wonder outloud
Why life seems the same

I hear America crying
No mothers are at home
Many single mom's are working
Trying to earn their own
Fathers always walking out
Marriages divorcing
College students working hard
Parents always forcing

I hear america crying
reaching for the red, white, and blue
I see America falling down
Over nothing but an untied shoe.
