"A Loss,A Gain"

by Stephanie Ricks   May 18, 2004

Just he and his friends,
There in that old bar.
Or so he thought till he noticed,
On his mind there you are.

he went there to have fun,
And to forget what he'd once had.
But damn if those old memories,
Didn't still make him sad.

So he had his last drink,
And took off in his car.
Going faster and faster,
To the beat of his heart.

So he closed his eyes,
For a second of thought.
Little did he expect next,
What his sudden actions had brought.

That curve came so suddenly,
And right out of nowhere.
Just a second sooner,
He could have seen it there.

But there's nothing he could do,
Its was just to late.
So he closed his eyes,
And accepted his fate.

His pain was very little,
But not the injury on his head.
"Don't think hes gonna make it",
They remember one man said.

Moments later he drifted away,
And it tore her world apart.
Because what he never knew,
Was what she truly felt in her heart.
