Why is it that when the truth is staring you right there in the face, you don't want to accept it because it hurts too much and it's just so easy to pretend?

Sometimes when nothing is right and there is no way it could work out, why do you still find yourself hoping...hoping things will turn out OK when you know deep down inside that isn't true.
