The assumption is that the alternative to self injury is "acting normally", but on the contrary.... the alternative to SI is total loss of control and possibly suicide. it becomes a forced choice from among limited options.

How can you be a good role model, when you're still growing up?? and how do you say that everything will be alright, when you're not sure it will be??
