It grows like a cancer,
Picking apart the stitching...
Scrambling for purpose,
Sinking further down, down...
What happened to the degree you said you were...
What happened to "the last time" you were going to...
The sunlight cuts through the remaining shadows,
Dawn has now broken, and so goes her repose...
Everything is burning inside,
My soul in pieces, my mind has broken...
I am the shadows that only the blind can see,
The whisper of promise that only the deaf can...
Inspiration is but ash within my soul,
My fire is lost, and my green eyes dull...
The smell of her powder is feminine and faint,
The high beams groan, and shadow peeling paint...
Friendships come
And friendships go...
The staged laughs and plastic smiles,
The scripted questions and silent guile...
Their mouths nurture the lies,
Born of black souls and empty eyes...
She believed in her drunken haze,
Shaking a drink in her hand...
