How can you forget/let go of someone who you love with all your heart and saw your whole future with?

I don't get the quote "If you love someone you let them go," because i want to hold on of the one i love. I wont be able to face, seeing the person i love having someone else in his arms and look at her like how he used to look at me.

The more i love you, the more you call me obsess.. The more i want to be with you, the more you push me away..
