Ships dock in many ports
And depend on iron anchors...
Each day I take a few moments
To sit outside on my porch...
Words are all I know.
I can write them on paper as easily...
It seems to me I’m always keeping time,
Always counting the seconds and minutes...
I don't want to forget;
I don't want to lose sight...
My dreams are hanging on
My hopes are hanging on...
Take back all our songs
And movies we shared on the couch...
Morning has come again,
Bringing with it drops of renewal...
I'm thumbing through the memories
Tucked away beneath my bed...
I do not want to live today
Or even breathe the clean air...
I see her drowning
In a sea of emotions...
I cannot rearrange the stars
Or frost the eaves in May...
