The sunset drips in hues of blood orange,
Melting into whispers of the softest blues...
We used to run barefoot through the yard,
Arms outstretched to the darkened sky...
Rain soaked windshields are my norm,
Driving through blurred purple streetlights...
It has not rained here in weeks
But I am drenched to the bone...
I hope, only just for now,
This is the way it was intended to be...
Buried deep in the cosmos,
Embedded in the Phoenix constellation...
Your head rests against a silken pillow,
Forehead just inches from my pounding chest...
Unsteady room and a fuzzy brain
I drink it down to ease the pain...
Who am I if I do not have the slightest clue?
I question the intentions of my aspirations...
My mother surprised us with pieces of you,
Mementos from your home that are now ours...
They say we all dance with demons when night
falls and the lines between our worlds thin...
Subtlety is not my forte when it comes to you;
Open mouth, spilling words long left dormant...
