I was born in LA but my family moved to the farm when I was six months old. My dad had been raised on a farm but he sought a better life for himself in California. This would progress nicely until his firstborn was blonde and light complexioned while he was dark complected with black hair. He thought his wife had been unfaithful and though he was in error, this set him off in a way that had major repercussions for each member of his family. My poems address this and convey my early rural experiences, some of the trauma, and my encounters with God who, by the way, has helped me find peace with my childhood. |
When I was a young child,
I delighted in the things of life...
When Knights Fall
I hear a voice calling me...
Native and White Feet On The Earth
On this earth Native feet once stood...
My Big Fight
I can not remember why we fought...
A Dream’s Worth
If it’s true that I can fly in dreams...
It is a test of one's character to see who he or she honors in their life other than themselves. |
