Unnecessary Judgements.

I think it's strange how some people on this site can be so judgemental. There are several threads based on how stupid certain topics are, or how juvenial some of the younger writers are. It's kind of surprising to find if you ask me.
I realize this site is full of people, very opinionated creative ones, and we're all going to have different opinions.
    BUT
I don't think it's right to judge people on the genre they choose to write, or their age.
When I first joined here I figured this was a place for people with an interest in writing to feel accepted. I've noticed however that if your writing is not up to par, that your generally ridiculed in discussion or ignored.
Let me just say this to the intolerant:
If you're tired of reading sad poems or love poems then don't read them! There are other genres of writing on this site, and it's easy to find them. Stop complaining and go read a fantasy poem.
If you're one of those people spitting on the "pathetic thirteen year olds" then really, who needs to grow up? They're here to learn, and to write. This is just a beginning for so many people, no matter how old they are.
I'm sorry to completely rant about this, but come on, have some patience.
Poetry is poetry, no matter who it comes from, or what it's about.

I think its admirable, that you're fighting against those that place their judgements...But truly you are also one that shows the same as those you complain against.

You place them all into one pile without understanding why they do what they do...I think that some individuals, want these "pathetic 12 year olds" to better themselves, rather than repeat the same thing with the same topics over and over.

These judgements actually strenghten your resolve on whether you actually want to be a poet, or be a poet just because you want to jot down your emotional baggage.

But, I think we must understand, rather than complain, as to why a person does what he/she does.

    Don't you think?

We basically live in a world full of judgement. As you said, I'm judging those who complain. I guess there's really no escaping it.
I agree that people want others to better themselves with their poetry. I just think that constructive critism would be a better way of influencing people than calling them down.
I personally feel like if someone were to comment a poem and say, "You could improve by..." I would be eating it up, rather than reading that I'm pathetic and don't know what I'm talking about. We should support eachother, after all, we're all here for the same reason right?
I agree, we've got to have some kind of understanding.

Oh no, it wasn't really directed at me. I just read a couple of comments, that maybe I read with the wrong tone...you know? I absolutely love this site, and just wanted to state an opinion.
    Everyone deserves acceptance =)

I agree but i do believe that you should comment to help people like if their are a few spelling mistakes but that should be from good nature not meant to criticize you know

    I think you've misunderstood me.
I'm not talking about the critique people get in their comments. That I completely understand and support.
It's the comments on the discussion board. People saying their sick of pampered whiny teens writing the same emo poems. That's not encouraging, helpful or supportive. It's comments like that we could live without.
By all means critique is necessary. That is not the issue I had.
