Prom -- Yay or Nay?

My prom is coming up and I am curious to read others experiances at prom.
Was it a success or a disaster you wish you could forget about?
Did you get to take the date you desired or were you stuck with the average joe?
Was your dress the one you dreamt of or did it turn out hideous?

Feel free to share your stories!

It was the week before prom, and tickets had been sold for a while, my crush had hinted, he was my friend, I think in a way when I came out of his class while he was waiting by the door to go in and he asked if I was going. I said no then I don't know I want to because I had meant I had no one to go with. We had just had a major fight but the next day we had agreed to go together. I was so happy. My dress was dark purple, I had always wanted black but I was a tomboy uncomfortable with everybody there trying to help me pick one out and I just wanted them to do that for me. But it was a beautiful dress. I wanted to slow ance but I was nervous so we quit after a few and I didn't even dance til it was half over but by that time I said who cares and just had fun. He told me to dance with his friend while he went to do prom court stuff. My crush only liked me as a friend but though we had an awesometime, I had something good that came from it the next month: His friend surprised me by asking me out.

I havent gone to prom yet. my ex boyfriend promised to take me to prom last year, but then he was dating my friend and he promised her. then he ditched both of us. lol. ah the memories. but thats ok i went to homecoming with him and he pissed me off =p

anyway, everyone i know that has gone had an amazing time, even though they didnt have dates.

i dont have a dress yet, which is sad because i should be looking since i work at macys and i get a discount, but im just lazy i guess. maybe im hoping i'll have a boyfriend by then who will go with or something? i dunno.

i doubt i'll have a date though. i'm still gonna go tho... and our prom is at the reagan library this year. thats kinda cool

    ok im done now. =]

I went to Prom twice. It was quite fun. I technically went with my fellow at the time, but all of my group of friends basically just hung out together and made fools of ourselves. I don't like how it's become such a big, expensive deal. One of my friends wore a dress that she got on sale for 15 dollars. You couldn't tell. And, the second year, we eschewed the limo and cheaply rented a gigantic, ugly van... and that was a blast!

Prices for prom dresses are ridiculous.

Never went to the prom sadly seeing as coming to the old U.K at the age of 15, I was immediately placed at the sixth form rather than year 10 or 11... Sad!

I loved my prom but it was so sad, it was the last time that I was going to see a lot of my friends before I moved away. Other than that it was great! My friends and I didn't go with a date as none of the guys in our year were that special and my boyfriend is in the year above and wasn't allowed to come. But despite all of this we had the most amazing night and everyone looked stunning. Everyone forgot about social grouping for once and got on really well, it was the perfect way to end the era of us all being at school together. And even though none of us went with dates, we all ended up with someone to dance with for the final "slow dance". It was such an amazing night and now I'm feeling all nostalgic =)

My prom was awsome...Well my friend who agreed to go to prom with me ditched out on me the week before because he didn't have enough money to rent a suit or tux, so I was telling one of my (then) closs guy friends about it just hoping he'd listen. Well he was like 'I'll go with you or am I not special enough to go with you?" I bought him a ticket that day. I gave it to him after school and he was like "I was only kidding, but now that I actually have a ticket I am sooo excited to go." He bought me a coursage (sp?) and gave me my first slow dance. (After he danced with one of my friends frist) but that's ok...Even though he was my crush at the time he had a g/f and I had a b/f, It was awsome though...It was really funny though because he was 15 and in the 9th grade while I was 18 and in the 12th grade...lolz

So, I think my school hosted the worst prom in the history of proms. It was in our school cafeteria, the food was barely edible, and the DJ didn't play very good music. To top it all off, the smoke maker set off the fire alarm (somehow) and three fire trucks came. It didn't take long for our after party to get broken up by the cops either.

I'm not gonna lie though, I had SO much fun. My dress was black and blue, and very nice. I actually enjoyed dressing up for once. I went with my boyfriend, which meant so much to me because I know he didn't really want to go. All my friends were there, and the fire trucks made for some amazing pictures. We danced to all the music, even though it wasn't really my kind of thing. Although the party was cut a little short, it was all laughs while we were there.

And we have tons of pictures- it was definitely a night to remember. It just goes to show that there's a silver lining in everything, and everything worked out for the best.

I find it to be over rated, because it cost way to much money and to much stress for one night.

    Nay.

Although, the band I Killed The Prom Queen comes to mind, and that makes me happy.

But other than that, there's really nothing great about it.
