    Is anyone here deaf or hard of hearing?
    Just wondering.

    I'm hard of hearing and I was wondering if anyone knows sign language.

    Is it hard to learn?
    How does it help you when you use it?

    I used to know the alphabet, I had a teacher when I was really really young who decided I was the one who should learn it so she bought me a children's book that had sign in the back of it, but I forgot it over the years but my boyfriend learned some of it when his dad took a class on that language.

    Last year my best friend since child hood had an accident and lost her hearing, I've been learning ASL (American sign langue) Independently for the past year. It's coming along great and I really enjoy it!

    I'm hard of hearing and I think I should really learn sign language. Just in case one day I wake up and I'm totally deaf or if anything happens to my kids, in where they are deaf. Won't happen for another 3 to 4 years though. I think it's really helpful. I go to a camp where many of the people there are deaf, so it would be nice to learn it so I can talk to them.

    Another question;

    How do you talk like in a conversation in Sign?

    I know it's somewhat different then what we're used to speaking. I know in sign, some words are mixed up and they won't make much sense, unless you know sign.

    Example:

    Do you know what time it is?

    In sign, its something like;

    time what you know or something.

    I'm confusing myself.
