Gandhi!!!!!!!!!!!! :) I heart him. He's so awesome. Peace!

Al Gore (He's like captain planet except he wasn't a canceled show...just a canceled candidate for presidency...)!

Andy Warhol (Andrew Warhola)! He started an art revolution. He redefined art. He is so inspiring. I went to his museum in PA. It was awesome. :D

David Henry Thoreau! Be different! Don't conform to every little aspect of life! And be peaceful.

Paul Farmer - a physician who has spurned money and prestige in order to give all of himself to the relief of abject poverty and disease. He revolutionized the medical system in Haiti, and started an organization (Partners in Health) that helps raise money for supplies and medicine. Truly an amazing guy. His biography is called "Mountains Beyond Mountains." I read it two years ago, and it gets me constantly looking at my actions in the world - he stands for someone who actually DOES what most of us wish we could do.

Mother Theresa - her surfacing letters and memoirs that reveal the spiritual conflict this amazing woman faced somehow make me feel closer to her. I think it's incredible that, even when she faced her "dark night of the soul," she loved strongly enough to devote her life to other people.

Nietzsche - this one is a little weird, because he's not what I'd call a moral compass, but his thoughts on self-creation and looking objectively at accepted morality are unbeatable.

My grandpa, even though I never got to meet him. I've read many of the letters he's written, and have talked to my family about him for years. He is my model for honor and integrity.

My dad, who through his actions has taught me a lot about the value of enthusiasm, hard work, optimism, and the love of learning.

Jesus - I believe in love, as the only true opposition to despair. The fact that many of us believe this - from our culture, our faith - is quite possibly to to the spreading of the word that he taught. Perhaps he didn't invent this word, but his effect is undeniable.

Along with this list are many writers including Tolkein, Gary Paulson, Virginia Woolf, Jane Austen, Terry Pratchett, and others who have in some way or another helped shape my own personal mythology.

I do not have an idol nor a hero, I respect everyone mostly... but not people like
''Al Gore (He's like captain planet except he wasn't a canceled show...just a canceled candidate for presidency...)!''
Because he is a liar that tricked the world into accepting a Carbon tax, he is being sued by the founder of the Weather Channel for Global Warming fraud... because he will not debate in open about the lies he's been spreading.

    Forgot my list
Anyone that stands up for their rights as an individual.

Man, this post is going to go on and on. Every time I read a comment it reminds me of yet another person I could add.

Stephen Chbosky-I loved his book The Perks of Being a Wallflower. When I read that book. I knew that main character. He was my best friend. I know how he'd react to certain things and I knew what kind of person he was. It was the best. I can't even describe how incredible that book is to me. It's too hard, I've tried it many times and the best that I can muster up is that it's unbelievable.

My birth Mom-She is just great. She gave birth to me instead of choosing and abortion, she picked out a family that would care for me and focus on the dyslexia I could have had (which I do and I have overcome it along with my ADHD). She picked out teachers if any of you are curious. :) She introduced me to God and she's a very good friend.

Hey this isn't about putting down other heroes, Ryan. And I didn't specifically list the reasons he's a hero to me. I don't know much about the situation you spoke about but the Al Gore I support is the one that spent so many years of his life being a scientist and researching for the good of the Earth.

Well, he is not researching a thing he is taking bad data and mixing it into truth. The ''Hockey Stick Graph'' that he loves so much is a prime example. He doesn't care about the earth but more so about the UNs ability to embose a tax on a global scale and usher in a one world government.

Well, he's a scientist. Not everything with science can be proven. I really care about the environment and I just think it's great that he's spent so many years on this. A lot of the stuff he talks about is promoting people to do good. That's inspiring to me. Some may not believe in global warming but I'm sure the majority of us believe that polluting is wrong and inhaling toxins is plain disgusting. Oh, and in the long run most of the things we can do to prevent this sort of stuff cost us less so it benefits our pockets as well. ^_^

Untrue, the Kyoto Protocol will send the world into debt... and the Carbon Tax Al Gore is embosing is 10% more on all goods. If going green was cheap everyone one would do it but no one is. I believe the enviroment needs help but a politician pretending to know something about something he obviously knows nothing about... is horrible. There is a few documentaries and books you can read out there from actual scientist who have gone to school for climatology you can read. If you please, also 97% of carbon comes from water vapour 3% comes from humans? And carbon follows the tempature not tempature following carbon and a carbon rich world is actually better for the environment than vice versa, that's all I have to say on this because I'm going to end up ruining this thread if you wish to speak more I guess we can make another thread or something =\

Hmm. I think I'll PM you. I'm quite interested. Ya know I read this book about the pros and cons of the environment and none of them mentioned this. Oh and what I mean by pros and cons is that for the pros they listed what scientists had to say that support the whole global warming thing and discuss facts and studies and then vise versa for the cons. The cons didn't look very promising however. I had to do a five page (maybe more I don't recall) essay on this so I HAVE done my research. You seem to have done yours too however. PM me about those books you were speaking about. I may have to get off soon though so I may not get to read the message until tomorrow. We'll see.

I frankly used to dislike Ghandi, seeing as he distinguish himself and his people from the black south africans, he looks to in scorn... but I understood his actions somewhat...

Ghandi is a great man to quote over and over again, some of his actions are questionable. The only problem with people that rebel the British and kick them out of their countries... is the country is usually a dive ten years later.

William Shatner --you have to hand it to the man, he has done more than your average human being and all under constant and often harsh scrutiny. His books are uplifting and fun to read, mostly because he writes like a 6 year old whose third language is english. His music is a benchmark in so many ways...it's like the white line at the edge of a tennis court....there to remind you not to cross over or you are out!...YOU'RE OUT!. His acting is masterful and his personal philosophy on life is outstanding.....I mean he made a song about his wife drowning in their pool into a piece of comedy... He is a genius.

Bill Hicks -- He performed socially aware and educational comedy I think on average, 300 nights a year for almost 15 years and he never let anyone shut him up...I adore him, not because of how funny he was but because of the message that was instilled in his comedy shows. A message of self empowerment and consciousness raising...check him out.

Finally we are all heroes just for putting up with there being so few people to really aspire to...there are very few heroes left...not real ones...

All the heroes are dead, here we are...yay us.

I don't know if he is necessarily my "hero", i don't really feel the need to say my hero, but Nixon was a pretty damn good president and it's a sh!t that Kennedy was there at the same time as he was.

Hayley Williams, the lead singer of Paramore, her music has made me feel uplifted and even seemed to relate to a lot that I've been going through these last couple of days and I love her attitude and energy, the type of energy I had at one point and have been getting back for years: The happyness I mean.

    RIP 3/29/05

Amazing man, who in spite of his many downfalls (drug abuse, and serious stage fright) managed to touch many hearts before his life ended. He went on stage knowing he had OD'd and shared his gift one last time before he left.

My idol will always be my Dad. He has to be the strongest most powerful individual I have ever met. He's just the mocho Dad that I wish every parent can have. He protects me yet he is a great friend, mentor, and person. I just wouldn't be this great awesome person I am without him, so thank yu Dad for everything.
