Question for a mod

Ana marie I know you're on this board locking threads right now so I figured I'd ask you a question about it. I was wondering why we couldn't have recurring threads anymore. I know you said it was cause the club boards are up and running now, but a lot of us aren't all in the same club so we can't all use the same mutal board like we do for this one. isn't there a way for us to have a specific board just for our recurring threads? I mean we are using them for friendship in a way because we're having discussions with our friends from here, or couldn't there be another catagory created for them please? I don't want to cause trouble, but I don't really like that I won't be able to have discussions with all my friends that I've made here all at one time.

I agree with kris...the club board, you can only be in one club. :(

I mean I know the chat room was suspended, but the threads are different than the chat room. for the chat room you have to be on at the same time as another person. we use the discussion boards to talk over spaces of time. most of our posts are clean. we try to keep them that way. if it's a question of not enough mods or something like that I'm sure janis could find another person willing to moderate a board just for threads like these. heck I would be willing to, but I'm betting that's doubtful. and if it's a question of what janis wants could a mod please speak to him on our behalf?

I don't see anything funny..i think it prevents me from speaking to some of my friends. sure, we could PM. but you cannot speak with multiple people all together over a PM.

Hmm...Really...I think if you actually read the "Other" forum, you'd see that it has been explained by Ann Marie.

I think that repeating the same thing over and over, with nothing worthwhile to contribute, is quite frankly, inane...

I know you are all upset and frustrated at this, but the reason we were allowing chat-type discussions to go on was because the club forums were not working.

If we could keep it to just one chat thread at a time... we might be able to do that... but I can't see you all agreeing to merge your "forum clubs"

Mike, i agree that there were threads that weren't following the rules. and i also respect mod's decisions. however, the majority of us are upset as to the sudden change.

Thanks once again mike. keeping things calm. Alright ana marie I respect that the mods have the final say and I know they need rules to keep the site under control and I respect the rules. I know this is first and foremostly a poetry site so the discussion board is like a bonus feature in a way. I also get that if we keep just 1 or 2 threads around that might create problems because everyone will want their threads kept around. I was just trying to see if there could possibly be another solution to this. I guess there prolly isn't though.

I think all the answers were sorted out while I was answering a thread in my club, but if anyone has anymore questions, feel free to ask.

Also, Mike was correct that if the club doesn't have assistants yet, then it will not be visible for members to join.

That is not even right.
We don't just make bored, oh lets talk threads, we actually have threads to our friends and for our friends.
I've been apart of a lot of these threads since I first joined.. A YEAR AGO and why should things just suddenly change in one day?
This is really the only place I can talk to my friends on here, and now.. I can't even do that.
When I'm not putting poems on here, what's the point in being here?

I love how dead the forum is now....and it's not very nice to be mean to coco. just an opinion. still respecting the final descion...i even tried to make a thread that worked.....sigh.

And Coco is only upset about this because there was honestly no reason for it.
Other people that are getting suspending..
I believe that it is for good reasons.
If they are spamming someone with PMs, calling names, starting fights, yeah by all means suspend them.
But all we want is to be able to talk with our friends in this enviroment.

Alright I had another question for a mod. You wanted us to move to the club forums right? Would it be at all possible to allow us to join more than one club? I mean even just being able to join 2 clubs would work. The reason people are so upset about moving to the clubs is because not everyone they talk to is in their club and so they can't talk to them all at the same time, and they don't want to quit their current club. People have made a specific club that is just for discussions that used to be in this part of the site. Would the mods consider allowing us to keep the club we have but join that club too? or could you ask Janis about it?

Okay thanks amanda could you please keep me informed? I think that this idea could possibly help the situation because then there would be a club specifically for these threads and people wouldn't have to be upset about choosing between the club they're in and the discussions they want to continue to have.

No you can have them go as long as you want coco. there was a 666 thread in CC&P awhile back and that club has most of the mods in it.

Oh.. and another quick question..
I just looked at my favorites, and me and Kris both have a red * beside our names.
What on earth does that mean?

Actually all you have to do if a problem arises in a club is messege a Mod with the link to the thread you want locked or deleted. Also the Manager of the Club has the rights to remove members from that club if needed.

And if it is a serious problem with a member, again messege a Mod, with the problem and we'll take care of it.

^^The Answer is NO.

You can use the PM system for your other friends that are not in you particular club.

^^Yes I just mentioned that above. The manager of the club has the power to remove members if needed.

So you guys can't even consider the multiple club idea?

As for PM's building up and screwing up your inbox. That is why we implemented this:

Private message mass deletion

Remove all messages older than:

[ 180 days ]
[ 90 days ]
[ 30 days ]
[ 7 days ]
[ delete all messages ]

P.S. you have to click on the "Mass Delete" Button in order to see those options.

Also, there should no longer be any problems with a large amount of PM's over filling your inbox and screwing it up.

(a little side note, if any of you are still having problems with the PM system not letting you in and over filled, please contact me about it. Thank you)

As for long threads in the clubs, I would advise the club managers to not let them go TOO long or you may end up having problems with them.

I would say that as soon as they start opening slow for some people, start a new one.
