Does age difference really matters?

It seems to me that people accept the age difference more, when it is a guy who is older then a girl, then vice versa.
i have recently fallen for one of my workmates who is almost 4 years younger then me. Everytime i tell my friends about him, they all seem to be against it.
i am not sure what to do, whether i shoul follow my feelings and pursue the friendship, or should i stay low.
We get along very well, and i feel like we've got so much chemistry, but should i even go there? is the age difference goin to be an issue (since he is still at school, and im not). :S let me kno wat u think guys cheers

Well it's handy that we don't KNOW your age, but i'm presuming you're a little older due to being out of school. there will be complications and confusions, you are both on different maturity levels. you probably work, and he still lives with his parents? I'm sure it'd be pretty weird, but if you want to make it work, the choice is yours.

first how old are you/is he.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with thay. If you both care for each other then you shouldn't let what other people think keep you from being happy

    This topic is heavily debated.

There's going to be the argument along the lines of, "a 40 year old with a 7 year old" because I have scene a case where a 40 year old man has slept with a seven year old child and literally split the girl. It was absolutely horrible and age should of course be a factor then. Or another case where a 46 year old teacher was fired and wanted to marry a 15 year old student. Things are very wrong there and those points can and just have been brought up.

I believe that age should be a factor in those cases. Teenagers to me are not mature enough to make their own decisions. Now in the case of 16 to 19, I dont really see anything wrong with that. In my state it is legal. I think that an age law was set for a reason. Because teenagers are impulsive and dont think about the outcome of their actions, just the way the attention from an older man or women makes them feel. Which is normally special. The maturity differences would and will make the relationship difficult.
