Industrial Ear Piercings

I want to get an industrial ear bar. I don't want a straight bar, though. I've seen curved ones and sprial ones and I like those better. Does anyone know a site where I can find information about the different styles of bars?

    Whats an industrial ear bar?

It's a bar that goes through the top part of your ear.

I also want to know if it hurts really bad, or if one of those things that's different for different people.

They stick a bar through your ear, how could it not hurt? lol.

Anyways, I have no idea to be honest, I just responded to suggest google. I'm sure there are many people who would have posted pictures of their piercings on the internet.

    Here ya go.

    In answer to your question:
Of course it hurts. But if you can tolerate having your cartilage pierced with a gun (that's how I had mine done), then you can probably handle a needle - as it's much safer and body-friendly. See, a gun pushes the flesh aside, forcing a hole into it, where as a needle actually removes the flesh, creating a hole that can actually accommodate the piercing.

In short, if you're brave enough to get it done in the first place, you'll be fine.

Plus, if you're getting a traditional industrial, it's done through thin cartilage, so it shouldn't be too bad. Although you should be aware of some of the risks involved (ie infection, ear collapse, etc.). But if your piercer really knows what he/she is doing, then they'll debrief you and you should be alright.

I think any piercing pain really depends on the person. When I pierced my nip I thought it was the most painful thing ever lol My best friend didn't even flinch.

^^ You get it peirced separately first right?
My friend is getting the bar, but first she had ot get two separate rings. then they go and put in the bar afterwards.

    I think i'm right atleast...

Judging from that picture I dub that, not very attractive.

I think they're really cute. They're really popular in my high school, too and my parents are actually letting me get one (so, I am jumping all over this chance!). I do think that the straight bars are ugly, but the spiral ones are cute. ^.^

I don't have any other piercings. I used to have my earlobes pierced but I let them grow up. I'm not really a "wild" teenager and this isn't something that I would normally do. I just wanna do it.

    "the spiral ones are cute"

As far as I know, that's not actually considered an industrial. :P

I'm thinking about getting a transverse lob done. And I've always wanted a conch. I only have a ring in the cartilage of my right ear as of yet, but I'm planning on getting some more metal put in 'em soon. I love piercings...they're kind of addictive.

    Lmao.

You think industrials are wild and ugly? Let me show you my beautiful 00 gauges and my friends two and a half inch.

Industrials hurt like a bitch and get infected very easily. I've never seen a spiral bar, but Jordan is right. If you can try to get it done with a needle. And take good care of it.

    :D

It's true. Industrials are absolutely nothing when compared to some other piercings.

Ok, I'm going to go get one put in tonight!! I'm sooo excited. Haha. Wish me luck and hope that I don't cry like a baby! ;P

God luck! You'll be fine - piercings are fun! They don't hurt THAT much. The gratifying feeling you'll get from actually having it done will overtake the pain. :D

Yeah, I just got home. It did hurt a little. The guy had to pierce my ear twice on the lower hole (dunno if that's actually what it is...). It was too low and it made my ear point. :(

The second time hurt worse, but I knew it was over, so it didn't really bother me anymore. It looks so cool. But it's throbbing right now and my ear's all red. lol It will be better tomorrow!!

Thanks for all the posts and comments. They really helped me in my decision.

    C'mon, it's fun, Britt!

I actually kind of thrive on the pain of a piercing. Weird, I know. :P

Gauging my ears was not done for fashionable or trendy reasons. It had to do with my belief in body modification and what you should get out of it... It's a lot more that I wont go into.

Big gauges probably wont get you a good job in life. But my tiny ones state my beliefs if someone asks me to explain, and they are suitable for the work environment.

Any piercing or tattoo should really be thought out, hopefully you wont regret the industrial later on. they have the tendency to sometimes infect and swell..

    Take care of it.

-Nods- I was thinking of having that done, too.

    Honestly? It's a decision I'm happy that I made.
Look into it, and dont do it yourself. I know people who have shoved screw drivers through their ears in order to gauge them.

Be healthy and safe about it, and if you rip your ears.. be careful about.

You can stick your middle finger through my ear, Britt. ;]

    U could googgle it, hun.

  • Jordan

Yeah, the guy who pierced my lip had his ears gauged....I don't know what size, but they were ridiculous...probably 2 inches or something. Lol, he took the discs out and put weights in them and every time he turned his head quickly, they'd hit him in the jaw. Hilarious.

Ok, I took it out. My fiance didn't like it. I know that's really not a good reason to remove it, but I really sort of regretted getting it. It really hurt my ear and I ran a fever for 2 days after I got it. My ear bled for 3 hours one night. :(

So, all I have to say is: Sometimes you have to try something once to see if you like it. Unfortunately, I didn't like this experience. lol
