What if This is as Good as it Gets?

What if there's no heaven?
No golden, pearly gates,
What if there's no madman,
Who sits up there and waits.

No inferno burns below us,
Hell's inside the mind,
We're still the greatest miracle,
We've ever come to find.

What if this is life?
No answers beyond here,
A fluke that we have come to live,
Atop this spinning sphere.

Will dreams still shine or fade away,
Will stars fall from the sky?
Would life truly change at all,
For either you or I?

When You Grow up, Your Heart Dies

It used to be so innocent,
This heart inside my chest,
It knew not of those lonely times,
That leave us feeling pressed.

The chase of love and tenderness,
The sting of fallen friends,
Time is never long enough,
When happiness just ends.

Growing up gave way to visions,
Not held in our dreams,
But found inside the darkest corner,
Soaked in horrid screams.

Fairy tales now seem false,
When once they seemed to shine,
A dreamy girls, sweet doe like eyes,
Now not so divine.

We push to lose that innocence,
And once it's gone we try,
To get it back at any cost,
Until the day we die.

What I've Learned (Nonet)

I used to be the type of girl who saw
My world in different colors. The
Branches and gold leaves would always
Fool me into thinking that
One changes due to time.
But now, I know a
Person only
Changes through
Love.
