Just Friends?!?!

I love him with all my heart..We dated for the longest time....Until it ended on his birthday/ our anniversary </3
Well We have been apart for a month & 7 days now ...But I did get to see him last friday...it was the hardest night of my life
He asked me how life was..I said I was good..He looked at me and said "You dont have to lie..I know your hurting.." I just looked at the ground hoping I wouldnt cry..Then to brake the silence, I asked him waht he wanted to do ..I need closure ya know
It took him a second to reply & he looks at the ground and says "I just dont understand how I love you but I dont want to be with you"..My eyes watered...& he went on saying "I want to be your freind..your best friend..are you okay with that"
I looked up at him & I just started crying..He then stood and grabbed me and I cried into his shirt..he kept saying life would go on...then I looked up & we made out for a while...then I cried all over again...It was so hard && as I left he held me & kissed my forehead & said he would always be there for me...

I need help...I cant be his friend...My first love...I just cant do it anymore...Everyday I replay this night over & over in my head crying my eyes out, wishing it didnt happen....I need help..I need someone to talk to..Please Help Me..P L E A S E
