Yeah, I know there are probably threads about hair dye going wrong.. But right about now I dont want to get scolded for bumping a thread and I seriously need some helping out. So if this gets locked, sorry.

Anyway, back to what's going on.. Up until about four months ago I'd never done a damn thing to my hair. It was my natural color. I was due to go to a family members wedding and stand with him, so I decided to do something to my hair. We dyed it a dark brown and went to the salon to throw in some platinum blond highlights. It looked pretty good for the wedding, not too feminine.

So afterwards I decided that I would dye it a darker brown to get it back close to my natural color. Let me explain to you.. It went completely wrong. Further more, my roots refuse to hold dye. After experiencing a bit of frustration I just dyed my hair black and called it good. The black didnt hold throughout my roots either but with the way that I part my hair, you couldnt tell. Well after getting sick of the black because of a pale complexion I Color Oops'd my hair to remove the color. It isnt a bleach product, I dont believe. It said it was bleach free, natural, and shrank the hair dye molecules.

The Color Oops removed the dye and my hair was a burnt orange close to brown. So we decided to try to dye it light brown because my hair was looking horrible. Having a job and to make appearances in weddings frequently is really taking a toll. My hair is quite bad, the brown held but it turned more of a red with time. Which is quite understandable. But my roots wont dye and keep staying an orangish color.

I regret dying my hair. I dont know how you women do it. Seriously. Does anybody have any tips to fix the roots and this mess?

    any sites.
    suggestions.
    tips.
    hair dyes.
    whatever.

I have an uncles wedding I need to be to next month.

Have you been dyeing it on your own, or have you gone to an actual salon to see a color specialist? There are people who get paid to do this, maybe a professional would at least be able to get you on the right track?

    Highlights were a professional.

Frankly, I really cant afford a professional right now. All of my money is going somewhere much more important.

If I can fix it myself, I'm going to. If not, I'll shave my head I suppose. Which would be a damn shame.

Lol you are killing your hair, dye over dye, stripping it and dying it again, not a good idea, some hair just does not hold a dye well, I know my best friend cannot dye her hair, even the permanent ones wash out. Consider yourself lucky and stay au naturel lol Shave it off and start anew.

Pretty thick, pretty long, can be nice.
My hair is healthy, The roots just wont hold.
I havent dyed it in say.. probably a month and a half?
Nor was it really a strip kit. I cant explain what it was.. But it doesnt damage your hair.

Shaving my head and paying are last resorts, ladies.

Dyeing your hair doesn't hurt it unless you're putting blond in it. Think of it this way: darkening it = coating it with dye which also = not bad...sometimes even good as it can help strengthen your hair. Lightening it = taking pigment away which also = bad.
Therefore you're right, Ian. Your hair is probably not damaged. Bravo!

    My advice:
Get it stripped and then put a dye in it that is closest to your natural color. Do it professionally, otherwise I doubt you'll have any luck....but maybe you'll have some luck trying different things! after all, I haven't had much experience with dyeing my own hair...just watching others and hearing hairdressers talk. Just my thoughts. Haha.

Well, bro, I have a color close to my natural. I just cant get my roots to hold the dye. So they're orange. Lol.

By the way, Accidentally quit the club.
