Yeah, solt machines will just eat your money they are a waste of time.

Poker, Blackjack, and any other card games (tables) are where you will make the money if you know what you are doing.

I would advise you to read some books on the subject matter, and learn the games really well before thinking about gambling your money down the crap shoot (Casino) you can make money fast and you can lose just as fast and have everything taken from you just like that...

Slot machines suck if you're not my uncle we give that guy 50 bucks and he'll make you 500 it's insane. And people just because she/he asked about gambling doesn't mean she's an addict and the person that said it was bad. You need a brain check and need to stop listening to your dumb teachers.

And they should listen to you right? Some day you'll grow up and listen to your teachers, you may live a better quality of life.

Well, I do agree some people are wise and some people are not. And most public school teachers... god here I go. Anything the government is a part of is crap plain and simple nothing good comes out of government. I listen to a lot of radio shows, and you get some teachers that call and don't know jake. I dropped out of that system myself do to the socialist indoctornation. Government feels they need to reculate gambling and that means it's going to be pushed on you at school. That's just my two cents... those crazy Libertarians.

And yes, I love that quote :)

I think it depends on the type of person you are,If you have an addictive personality than its probably best for you to avoid it,if you don't you could do like I do,I live near casino's ,if I go I think of it as an evening out and lose about what I consider an evening out should cost anyway. That way if I win then all the better,no big deal either way.

    Haha.

You guys are funnyyyyyyyy. To Joe; slot machines are the shizzle, I make £300 a month from them, profit. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. But then you've always been like that.

Whenever I play online poker I always seem to lose, whenever I play it with friends I always seem to win. I don't get it.

But yeah, I was more looking for tips and discussion of gambling rather than a scolding from the old omniscient parent.

Bob, I only play holdem :P. Not proficient enough at the other versions.

By the way, poker and slot machines aren't gambling, at least by UK laws, as there is a certain amount of skill in them.

That's why in the last decade or so slot machines have been fitted with skill stops etc.

I believe there is absolutely no luck in poker, providing you play it a lot: if you roll an unbiased coin 10 times, it might be heads 75% of the time; not a true reflection of the probability. Similarly if you play poker 10 times, you might be unlucky 75% of the time.

But if you play it 100 times, your luck will be no different than any other player, ceteris paribus. Therefore it is all skill. I actually think poker is more about discipline.

"By the way, poker and slot machines aren't gambling, at least by UK laws, as there is a certain amount of skill in them."

Don't be stupid please, slot machines and poker (for money) are classed as gambling -especially- by UK laws! Gambling encompasses everything that is "the act of playing for stakes in the hope of winning" Slot machines by definition are gambling, you wager money in the hope of a winning outcome.

Anywho, I've just booked my holiday to Vegas so who am I to comment.

Pete, you're the one being stupid my friend.

In the 2005 Gambling act in the UK, section 6, point 1:

'6 Gaming & game of chance
    (1) In this Act “gaming” means playing a game of chance for a prize.'

Note the definition in the introduction is as follows:

    3Gambling
    In this Act “gambling” means—
    (a) gaming (within the meaning of section 6),
    (b) betting (within the meaning of section 9), and
    (c) participating in a lottery (within the meaning of section 14 and subject
    to section 15).

Hence I've pasted section 6 at the top for you. Think before you act. You look like you've got enough years on you to have realised that by now.

To positive - I think that's quite a good tip except if you've just paid in £9 to a slot machine, then suddenly it's backing on your last pound coin - you know it's going to pay out - but you only brought a tenner, then that would be a sad, sad day.
