I can't get a job....

I live in a small hick town and every thing here sucks...
There are 2 whole stores in this whole town and they suck too.... I just got my permit in may and I wont get my lisence til novemeber... I dont want to waste my summer sitting at home like I always do...
I want to do some thing and I just can't.
I've applyed to a few places out of town and I havent heard any thing back....
I always think people have issues with me appearence.... I think that's why people dont hire me... I have a lip and toung piercing and 3 holes in each ear... most people around here dont like people who look like me like punks...

The only piercing I can see there being a problem with is the lip, depending on the ear piercings of course, but I don't see a tongue ring being a problem.

The internet is a good plan of action, if you don't hear things right away, that is just part of job searching, I handed out 50 resumes one day and only heard back from 1, it is a game of chance, so to speak lol

I think the tongue ring would put off anyone who noticed it - if you love your piercings, try starbucks or books a million, or blockbuster, if you don't mind the ugly uniform, not sure why but the people there seem to have piercings more than other places, so whoevers in charge of hiring probably doesnt discriminate. also, make sure you dont discriminate, by not applying for easy jobs or something. and i totally second the collared shirt and dark pants thing! good luck!

The thing is. you cant just wait for them to call you. i applied to many things before i got my job. and the only reason i got this job was because they said they were waiting for someone to call...follow-up. and i did. so i got lucky. even though my hair at that time was black with red streaks. and i dress nothing like anyone else.

If that's the problem, take out all your rings wear something proffecional and then ask for work.... you can wear them later on whenever you want to... if the problem is with your town look for a job in the closest town, if you can't, look for a job with someone you know or ask someone you know to hire you to do their personal work... if there is no way you can get a job, start your own, like making stuff and selling them, or look for a talent (like singing) that can keep you busy and get you some money.
