"The winner will receive 2 votes of 5/5 and 2 comments."

Does this mean you will search through all of their poems until you find 2 you deem worthy of a 5/5? Or just handing them out regardless of the work, because like the comments, I would prefer honest votes.

    Lol this alrigh?

    The Gambler

    He Throws his dice,
    Walks the line.
    And leaves his mind.
    Win or lose,
Just a clink and pull away.

    Not an addiction.
    More like
    A way of life.

    No thrill could kill
    Him faster than this.
    Twenty grand in debt,
    Going on thirty.
    Adrenalin fuels
    His addiction
His wife says hes a loser,
    But to him hes just
    Another gambler.

    Red 32.
    The ball bounces
In a joyous kind of way,
    Black 28.
    Red quickly turns to white
    As he loses another bet,
The arc of his fists told us all
    As they slammed down
Upon the table, yet we watched
    With vague remorse
    As he was carried off.

    On the street.
    He gambled with his life;
    Needle full of smack,
    A line of Coke.
    Half a bottle later;
    Face down,
    In a ditch,
    Somewhere outside of town.

Learning To Fly With Broken Wings.

I was just another fallen angel
    Wings drooped upon the floor
    There's no beauty to them
    They're worth nothing anymore

Places where the utmost beauty were
Now the holes of pain reside
    There's no feelings left anymore
    Nothing more to hide

How much longer until this stops
    The pain, the hurt subsides
When can this stop feeling wrong
When can I stop dying inside

I have to pick myself up
To make this all go away
Patch up the holes in my wings
And learn how to fly again

I may not have the perfect wings
I've always wished for and adored
But I'll have to work with what I got
And show them, my life means more

I won't let myself fall anymore
Won't let them see me cry
I'll prove them wrong, I'll get back up
And teach these broken wings to fly.

    Don't Cry, Smile.

Have you ever felt so sad when something doesn't go your way?
The thing you longed for, and now it's gone?

Have you ever had your heart broken,
but you didn't realize you were better off without them?

Have you ever lost someone so close to you,
and thought you could never live without the happiness they used to bring?

These are the times that we should cherish.
The kind that we keep in our hearts for enternity and never forget.
Always have that memory in your heart to look back on for future situations.

We should always be able to look back and smile,
and realize it's only for the better, and not the worst
because it will make us a stronger person than we are now.

So whenever you look back at frowning memories, always remember to say to yourself:
'Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.'

    Abstract Boulevard

    by Silhouette fairy

    Running down this wild track
    twisting, turning, up and down
not know how to get out
    i stop.
    looking about me
    surrounded by light
    feeling no warmth
    falling from the sky
    like ash from a fire
    the touch, cold.
    again i move
    not knowing the way
    following the petals
    where they lead,
    i will never know
    trusting instinct i turn
    leaving the path
    through the trees
    walking across roots
    they reach out
    like little hands
    grasping nothing
    but then inward they turn
    the end very low
    i follow deep underground
    slowly things go dark
    then bright again
    and now in a meadow
    touching the wild grasses
    i reach out
    like the roots once did
    then sitting i wait
    waiting for you to come
    and come you must
    for you wished it so.

    *give me all of you*

    I take a deep breath,
    and think about you.
    I smile because you smile,
and frown when you do too.

    I have some deep emotions,
That my words just cant explain.
But I don't know what to do,
These feelings are driving me insane.

You say that you love me,
And that I'm your special girl.
But sometimes you make me feel unwanted,
And better off not in this world.

    Over these 7 months
We've had a really tough time
I can't keep playing your little game,
Because it's getting out of line.

I'm falling so deep in love with you,
But I need to know if this is real.
Do you want to be with me?
Or are you taking advantage of how I feel?

Just lay your heart in my hand,
And give me all of you.
Because I know you're holding back
I know it... I just do.

    I love you pooh bear,
    More than you'll ever know.
I'm just asking you if you feel the same,
Will you please let it show?

    Sparklers

The reflection gleams in her eyes, as if glitter could dance with malice.

All clever girls know colors will intoxicate the weak,
so she turns her glassy eyes to stare at the abyss.

    Sparks catch fire,
    panic arrives.
    But peace is present
    in those glassy eyes.

Disguise the demons with beauty, deceive the dazed hearts in love.

    Naive souls with blinded eyes,
could never see the truth past all those lies.
Her static body swallowed by flames.
Beauty turned to ashes, her facade was burned away.

    "A whisper on the wind"
On silver glass, I write your name
only for it to fade away,
sprinkle your ashes over sunlit plains,
only to bless the ground again.

A crooked picture in a cobweb room,
a haunting silence amid the gloom,
I see the shadows slowly loom,
hangs over the rose that never bloomed.

Your spirit now; a burning essence,
    a whisper on the wind.
    masks my murmur of acquiescence,
    a whisper on the wind.

The winter breeze, chills my bones,
    you never called me home,
and now; by the lake in the bitter cold,
and over your grave, I'm skimming stones.

Drops of rain confuse my tears,
the reflection; your eyes, crystal clear,
I hang my head off the edge of the pier,
    I'm watching as you disappear.

Your name is now; a echoed caw,
    a whisper on the wind,
masks my pain as the misery thaws,
    a whisper on the wind.

You took your life on this very lake,
Sleepless nights, I wished you'd wake,
you were bestowed, then taken away,
your final breath, an eternal ache.

They found you pale on a creamy shore,
    your glowing cheeks; no more,
they found you with your white dress torn,
    your eyes spoke deep remorse.

Your spirit now; a burning essence,
    a whisper on the wind.
    Masks my murmur of acquiescence,
    a whisper on the wind.

And I guess I'll never ever know,
why you left me cold, alone,
and why you've left a gaping hole,
and why its filling with woe.

We burnt your body on the Sabbath day,
when the sky was dull, and the clouds were grey,
and as the flames slowly took you away,
I let my mercy take your place.

Your name is now; a echoed caw,
    a whisper on the wind,
masks my pain as the misery thaws,
    a whisper on the wind.

    Half Way Across The World

    Half way across the world,
    Someone is slowly dying,

    Half way across the world,
    Someone lays there crying,

    Half way across the world,
    There are children without homes,

    Half way across the world,
There are parents who live alone,

    Half way across the world,
There are people who live in poverty,

    Half way across the world,
There are people who won't live to seventy...

If only you took a second to look
At the world for what it truly is,

    An angry, fearful, hated place,
There is no happiness or bliss,

If only you took a second to look
And to study all lifes' woes,

Then you wouldn't spend it looking away,
Or high up on your toes

    Only a Dream?

    With honor in his heart
    and rage in his hands
he will fight for his country
    in the Mideastern sands

there he will see the ghosts
    surviving shadows of a nightmare
ashes from corpses that forever stays
and haunt to our very last days

but dear soldier you shall nothing feel
you are just a machine so don't forget
    to proudly kill all enemies
cause your patriotism needs to be fed

but who dares to speak inside your head?
the one that screams for the war to end
"Go home soldier, I warn you now...
Wake up son, it's time to defend"

    our soldier opens his eyes
feels the warmth of his fathers essence
thank God, for this was only a dream...
and that he is safe in his fathers presence

he KNOWS that this was just a dream
and that war is far from what he felt
a patriot he is and will always be
that feeling will in his heart forever be held

though still the dream haunts his mind
while finish packing his military bag
all thoughts disappears, when he feels the glow
the glow from his countries mother-flag

    Raw

    You hatred and your sorrow,
They were the hands with which you tore the world in two,
You weren't the first that he condemned to lack of trust,
    But still you
Wished you knew why he left you in this,
But you always know he'll be there,
Not here but he's there and waiting
Not for you but he's still there and waiting.

You watch him dance and you still see the reckless beauty of youth,
Blown away as cinders of the pale mourned,
    By the awful winds:
Not of time but of despair,
You see him there as he loses himself to what he has become
In the redness under a bleeding watchful moon he stained with
Nameless god knows what sanguine, and it dripped through clouds
    Though you weren't watching anymore,
But you still knew and you still ached and still you burned
Bloodless missing heart, red and raw as that circle in the sky.

You, just a withered flower in the grass,
Through time and terror you will grow,
Through time and terror he will stay,
    Never failing always watching
Though eyes always closed to you,
What you did to yourself and what you did to him,
What you did to them both in your madness and your myriad breeds of lust.

You saw him there when it took him over,
Once it took you over, it happened twice,
Three times, a thousand times, but it only mattered twice,
You saw with those infernal eyes of yours
How it turned him to stone,
You saw him there when it stilled his gentle hand,
So cold, and both they knew the feeling,
You thought you were and you knew
What he was to be was not something you could regret,
There was no space to take seed within your envy.

You were there when he gave in, he gave up,
And you were there to tell him that
'I know, I know, I know what it is,
    To want, to die,
I know the pain of the unknown,
Just hold on tight, to me, to life, to everything you do know,
Just listen though you hate me,
    I can't love but I love you,
I ceased to feel but I feel you.'
He never heard because you never said,
Could only run away as he cried red
    As the other one,
The first one, turned away despite the pain that jarred him,
Though never did the agony once touch his mind for you.

And he was there when you fell back down
    A second time,
And he was waiting when you rose from the ashes of your shame
Bitter faced and bleeding from nowhere but he saw it,
Crimson and dripping though it wasn't ever there
And he reached a forgiving hand and he told you
One last time I'll stand by you
One last time I can let it go
One more time and I will forsake you with the flaws and fractures in me.

You were there, he was there,
    You, never, touch, again,
No, he doesn't want to see what you did to him that time
Of hopeless acrimony and wanting for the
    Tangible thing beating in your,
    Still and empty chest,
    The clockwork, useless, souless mockery
    Of your obssession.

There is another but you never even gave in did you,
It burns you up at night but still not taunting
    Quite as he did,
For such a mindless, emotionless beast you still
Wear that little space of yours on your sleeve for those two
One to hate and one to want to hate,
One to kill and one to turn away.

One who killed and one who turned you back,
That other one you could not find space in your abyss, your void to care for,
The one who butchered that final hope you had and yet you still
Still are what you are for him and that bastard who tore you a second time
Those wicked cruel bitches who chanced the last two shreds of your humanity
And took them in and they kept them and it grew
And yet they never once noticed what they kept in their hands
Their beautiful murdering hands... Curse them...
Rather stay a nameless wretch in that place your soul is made of,
Than be condemned by fates and the misguided compassions,
To shrivel and resent in an innocent new shell.

((I'm so sorry it is REALLY long but, I was really feeling for my character when I wrote this and it is one of my best without a doubt. :3 Thankyou for taking the time to read.))

I like this poem because it reminds you how it feels to loose someone by death, their name becomes an "echoed caw" and their memory seems to become " a whisper on the wind" even as we try to keep it alive.

    Paint It Black

Thoughts scattered like color patterns of broken art --
There're tears hidden below the surface of what's seen,
Anguished cries fill the abyss of my patchwork heart.

Rays of light used to reflect off vivid stained glass --
A burning beacon that shone so brightly in the dark,
Dimmed 'til I couldn't see the shadows of the past.

Good times washed away like faded watercolors --
Gone with an abruptness that leaves a sad longing,
For a newfound future that no longer shimmers.

An empty slate, shattered memories of before --
So paint it black, just paint everything black,
Because some things don't matter anymore.

    Reflect
    by Stillmomsgirl

    I stare at
    my reflection
    I want it
    to bleed
    I want it
    to feel
    the satisfaction
    as the blade
    breaks skin
    I want it
    to weep
    crimson tears
    and realize
    it will
    never
    be enough

    My reflection
    stares
    back at me
    it wants me
    to feel
    the satisfaction
    of knowing
    I made it
    one more day
    it wants me
    to throw
    the blade away
    and realize
    I have
    -always-
    been enough

    Love rhymes with Heartbreak

Let me be the one to leave without taking a step,
I know you've always liked it more when there was distance
It leaves way for desperation and recognition of need for one-another
This is something I am craving.

Your desire for I is lost with the tide gone out and will not be there when it returns.
Perhaps I suffocated you in my waves of emotion but surely your despair could overturn my strongest hit.
One day I will beat you.

For now, thank you for being the fuel for emotion and passion. But, please, I'm better off without it all.
I could reach for your hand but now, all I'd find is air.
    So simple and seemingly meaningless,
Yet you and I both know it carries a message greater than the weight of our two beings combined.

This poem is misc. because it doesn't completely fit either the love or the sad categories, it's more by itself. If it's not suitable then feel free to ignore it.
