I've seen the film and thought it was a powerful story of the pressures on young girls growing up in todays society...speaking as a boy/man, i learned a whole heap from it and have recommened it to several people.

I can understand why your Mother would be concerned about you watching it though, because despite the message that the film tries to convey showing how hard it is for todays young ladies....she might be thinking it could lead you astray perhaps? Or somehow glamourize self harm and all the other things the two main characters get up to.

I guess for you it makes you feel a little more understood and normal [ whatever that is]...maybe you guys could watch it together as an idea...

I know what you mean about not wanting your Mum to watch it because it might concern her. I haven't seen the movie but, I know what it's about.

I don't self harm but, there was a time when my Mum was really concerned about me and treating me like some sort of disgusting creature that lived with her, as in glared at me all the time and stuff because of something that has happened.

Some movies are pretty realistic with their characters and situations so, it's not surprising that they're relatable.

Does she WANT to watch the movie with you? Or does she want to watch it herself. It doesn't seem like a good idea either way... is there any way of returning the video before she gets to it?

I thought it was an icredible movie that focused on some of the problems in our world... i loved it, my mum knows i've seen and knows what it's about... my sister's a self-harmer and she hasn't taken it off of her, and she's the one who owns it...

ive seen the movie, and i loved it the first time i saw it too. on a light note i also cried when the mom found out about her mutilating herself. but anyways, just let your mom watch it and hope for the best. if she doesnt like it then thats her problem, because the movie is based on todays teenagers, and it's right down to the point. I mean there are a bunch of other types of teenagers than the ones that are shown in the movie, but if your mom has a problem with that. then she has a problem with the majority of the teenagers on the US
