not ALL americans say dude...just the majority of them

dude, yeah, its just a constant habit, dude!!
lol...yeah we unfortunately do say it a lot...its really lame though.

It is also not true that all Scottish people say;

"Aye" which is slang for yes, affirmative. I only say it to make American girls giggle.

And then i show them whats under my kilt[ heh heh]which i wear all the time to conver my gingerness, and plus it holds my whiskey, and haggis, and Claymore....and all those other silly Scottish things that a massive amount of American tourists actually believe.

LoL, naw, I don't know 'bout that. Eyy, but it could be. LoL, but I say dude a lot. not so much on here but when I actually talk..n' other pplz start saying it too after a while. LoL, it's a habit and verrry contagious. DuDe! SoCal is the best!

im from california and most people say dude, but it sort of depends on the person. i havent said it in a while, but i used to say it a lot. but i suppose its not like every person that says it, but it may be a lot compared to other states or other countries, dunno...

Even I say dude, so therefor, it must be pretty damn common, because I also believe in using ACTUAL words of the English language :).

Dude is probably the most common phrase.. its like "mate" for other people in other countries, but "dude" gets worn out more, I bet.

"Dude" is also kind of a West Coast thing though, I live in OR, and in CA they say it A LOT. The phrase gets less and less prevelent as you go towords the EC.

I never say it. I don't use slang words thats just as bad as talking in computer talk. Can you image somebody coming up to you and instead of laughing say 'L.O.L'. or "O.M.G" I think I would punch them in the face.

i never say dude. i think it sounds really stupid, like you trying to be cool or something but it doesnt work. it just make you sound stupid. i hate that word. lol
