True. If the mother and her father are arguing the baby won't only be upset because of hearing the harsh tones, but also pick up on how the mother is feeling.

Well to be very blatant don't people generally laugh at things which are funny?

personally i think that a lot of the differences between men and women are just gender stereotypes

Right now in psych we are talking about the science behind the brain and how they use animals like cats, mice, rats, monkeys, etc. to test drugs and new things on..

do you think it is ok?
    why or why not?
what would you suggest to replace it if not?
do you think that w/o it we could advance in the science of psych.?

  • adriaan

    Let's see.
I would say no, it's not ok, cos of cruelty to animals, bla bla bla, etc. and there we go to the old argument about testing it on humans, with the usual fatal consequences.

So yeah. If we don't test it on animals...we'll test it on you. And you probably won't like it. :)

Oh, of course. So we advance science so that we make our calculations more accurate, etc. and so less experimentation is needed with the aid of computers and things. But you still need some.

And experimentation on animals isn't always reliable...take penicillin for instance. It's of enormous benefit to humans as benefit...but it kills guinea pigs. There's loads of others too, but you get the gist.

    RELATIONSHIP WISE

First of all, a man does not call a relationship a relationship -- He refers to it as "the time when me and Suzie was doing it on a semi-regular basis." When a relationship ends, a woman will cry and pour her heart out to her girlfriends and she will write a poem titled "All Men Are Idiots." Then she will get on with her life.

A man has a little more trouble letting go. Six months after the break-up, at 3:30 a.m. on a Saturday night, he will call and say, "I just wanted to let you know you ruined my life and I'll never forgive you and I hate you and you're a total whore. But I want you to know there's always a chance for us." This is known as the "I Hate You/I Love You - Drunken Phone Call." 99% of all men have placed at least one such call

    wow

    and ADRIAN!!!!!!!!

i like ur way of thinging.
but i think we should just use volenteres from the death row to do the experiments......tech. they are going to die anyway...so why not sooner....and if they volentere to it then there should be no prob. right?

Oh yeah...I didn't think of that.
Well, alright. That can be a new sentence, instead of being "sentenced to the chair", you have "being sentenced to being experimented on repeatedly until a fatality occurs".

But we don't kill our criminals in Britain, so that wouldn't happen here. :)

And not to worry...if the animals die you can eat them...*evil grin*

...and then because of all the chemicals inside them you'll take it in and suffer. Forget I said that.

    HEY, NEW QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!
    WHOOT!

If you had to lose one sence (sight, hearing, tough, taste, smell), what would you pick? and why?

    me?
    i would pick hearing.
i know sighn language and i often dont listen to poeple anyway, though i would miss my music.

  • adriaan

(where does she get all these questions?...)

Let's see...if I couldn't see, I couldn't play my beloved guitar, but that wouldn't actually be a problem cos I can play it with my eyes closed. Unfortunately I'd need a guide dog, and then cos my mum doesn't like dogs I'd have to move out...no, never mind.

Losing hearing...NEVER. Cross that one off. I can't live with out music.

Losing touch...difficult to imagine. I'll come back to that one.

Losing smell...never really bothered me. Only problem is that I won't be able to tell if I've left the gas on and the house is about to blow.

So then it's either sight or smell...but I'd miss my books, so I'm going to go for smell, also I'll need other people to tell me whether I stink or not.

You forgot taste silly silly you

and i get these questions form my Psych class
    that i am taking
    it is very fun

    and i make some up
    lol

right now i would go without tough cuz i dont want to be able to feel my pain form the teeth i just got taken out today...i had to get all 4 wisdom teeth out =(
    it hurts
and that is part of the Touch thing
    so ya
    bye bye touch
    lol

  • Prophecies In Kodak

I would prefer to lose smell.

I'm very artistic; I love poetry, I love photography, I love painting, I love speech, I love singing, I love playing instruments.

My scent, althought without it it may eventually drive me mad, is not one of the many senses that I use throughout my passions. Scent can make a memory, but I would rather be able to feel the texture of something, see it before me, hear what protrudes from it and to taste the things that I eat.

And especially with the ones I love; I want to see them mature, feel there skin and warmth, hear them cry and laugh. I guess it would have to be between scent and taste. Preferably scent.

  • adriaan

Oh yeah I missed out taste.

Well about taste that's a subsidiary of touch. So for the same reason I still choose smell. I would like to know if the stuff I'm eating has been spat in recently, you see.

  • sweet escape

But if you lose your smell you end up taking away some of your taste.
so why not lose your taste and then you can still smell your food!

    lol
and i think you would be able to see if your food has been spat in.
    =P

  • adriaan

Well, taking away my smell is about the equivalent of having a blocked nose. And if you can't find yourself able to eat when your nose is clogged up with what I can only describe as Indistinct Scrapings, then I pity you.

Yesss I may be able to see if my food has been spat in...but what if the cook has spat into it and stirred it up so you can't see the saliva?

Hmm. This is why it's sometimes good not to go to restaurants.

  • TravisInABottle

How would you be able to taste spit in your food, especially if they stirred it up so that it's mixed in with all of the other flavors?

  • ether

If you can't smell you can hardly taste. You know how you hold your nose when you're taking bad medecine? Same principals.

I'd rather lose taste, I'd get annoyed but then I could eat healthy things and no junk. Probably go vegan a lot easier.

  • sweet escape

Awww SEE Adrian , Travis and Ether agree with me!

    =P

    lol
    ok
    i got another question.

Do you think there is such thing as the Temporary Insanity Plea?

do you think that someone can be insane for a time and then become normal once agian??

personly, i dont like it....anyone can say.." i blacked out" " i dont know what happened" "i heard voices in my head that told me he was evil and had to die" ....it is a load of bull.

    what do you think?

  • adriaan

No, there isn't such a thing as the Temporary Insanity Plee because you spelt it wrong. Plea, not plee. If you pleese.

Yes, someone can be insane for a time and then be normal again...me, actually. And the imaginary guy who sits at the bottom of my bed.

And yeah that thing about voices in my head sounds a bit weird, although it must have been real for someone the very first time, then a whole lot of people desperate for attention thought it was a good idea to copy them and use it as an excuse.

Everyone has voices in their head. They're called "conscience". If these voices tell you to do bad stuff, then I must simply wonder why you think it is alright to put the blame on non-existent people who, really, are yourself.

  • sweet escape

    *sigh*

    Adrian,

U realy are a weird one.
    but w/e u think

and i have "voices" in my head too but i still dont believe that someone can say that some "voice" told them to do something and it is reason enough to commit a crime. so the PLEA is therefor null

    lol
i changed Plea just for you.....since you seem so annoyed by my hurried missspellingnesssssss
    lol
    i hope that anoyes you.
    lol
    =P

    <3
    ME

  • adriaan

    *rolls eyes*

For goodness sake. I'm not even annoyed...though you seem to be :p
Some people may have genuine voices in their head like I said...but they're never there to start off with, things happen to make those voices actually take root. Which isn't good either.

    Misspeller. ME.

  • sweet escape

    Ok
but there are too many who use it as a way to get out of trouble rather than for the truth.....so i think that the # lying can be enough to make the Plea null.

  • adriaan

So the question is how you separate those who lie from those who are genuine and most likely to be affected...psychologists again perhaps.

  • sweet escape

I think that people can fake it even with the psychologists. anybody who can do something that NEEDs the Insanity Plea can most likly fake the insanity part of the plea.

    dont you think so?

then again someone who commits a crime that bad must have some problems in their head.
so maybe they are insane.......but does that make it anybetter for the people the crime effects??
    i think not

so i think that the Temp. Insanity Plea shouldnt be.

  • adriaan

Probably, it really depends on how people can be judged in that way. Though if they commit the crime and then can't remember doing it, then they'd receive the plea more and...no, I forgot what I was talking about now.

And the people who are effected by the crime, they're going to lose out in any case, it's an attempt to redeem morals and such, so that if someone really didn't mean to do it then they'd be better suited to being put in an asylum anyway.

    What evs.....lol
    im tired of this sub.

hmmm....another question.....let me think *taps chin with finger*

    *light bulb*
    I got it!

    nope nope
    i lost it

    oh there it is.

have you ever had a dream with a theme song?
like you know what the people are saying but you also cant exactly hear what they are saying cuz the music is so loud it is like a nightclub where you have to yell in ones ear to get the lot of what they are saying.

i had one the other night
    it was sooo weird

i was like fallin in love with this person and the song was :

    you can't hurry love
no, u just got to waite
    love dont come easy
its just a game of give and take

    OMG
    loved that dream

(BTW: i got the guy....and didnt have to waite...lol)

  • adriaan

Well I used to have dreams where I could tell everyone was speaking, but I couldn't hear the words, yet I could understand them...music never plays in my dreams really.

However, I had one years ago where this person I was apparently in love with got crushed to death for apparently no reason, another one where I talked to somebody on a bench, another one where I was apparently related to the Tall Man from Phantasm II, and that the spheres with serrated spikes coming out were whizzing around killing people and slicing into their brains whilst they were still alive (I think).

I don't dream anymore, though. Except if it's about something deep.

What'd the guy look like, Sammie?

  • sweet escape

I dream all the time....even when i am awake.
    lol
never had a theme song before tho....it shocked me

    the man?

    well,
he was tall, dark, a lil weird, but very cute over all.
his hair was short and messy.
    lol

that description could fit SOOO many people.
    lol

but thats all u get to hear.
    =P

And i think u know who i am talking ab anyway......so i dont see why you asked at all.
    *raised eyebrow*
    lol

  • adriaan

I dream when I'm awake too. But there are too many songs in my head, so that when I'm asleep none of them come out clearly...the vivid ones do though.

Let's see...tall? Dark? Weird? Hair short and messy...sounds so familiar but I just can't place it. Nah, you've lost me there. Sorry. :p

  • sweet escape

Have you ever heard of the saing the answer is right under your nose?

well, in this case it is all around your nose....lol
NOW do you know who i am taking ab?
    lol
i hope so cuz i am NOT going to come out and say it.

    another question:

what do you think about gay marriage?

  • adriaan

Actually I already knew who you were talking about...6 out of 10 for subtlety there. :p It's that guy on TV who does the cooking thing. I forgot his name.

And gay marriage...I couldn't really care less. It's about as normal as, well, normal marriage. Then again I find marriage between a tiny shrimp and a dancing skeleton about as normal.

Nothing wrong with it in my opinion but others apparently disagree. What do you think?

  • sweet escape

Me, i think it is a great idea.

we all just want to be happy and if a guy finds that in another guy or 2 girls find that in eachother than i am happy for them and think they should be allowed to fully commit to eachother just as a man and woman can.

  • sweet escape

Well, since nobody has posted in the last few days i will ask a NEW question.

    hmmm...
    how about>>>>

Do you think that you would be able to "talk" with someone using only body language?

  • adriaan

Yes. With quite a few people they can work out a lot from you just by studying how you hold yourself and how you walk. It would be slightly tricky for anyone who hasnt done it all their life, otherwise it is possible. Just like you can communicate purely by facial expressions.

  • sweet escape

    YAH....
    i love BODY language!!!!!!!!!

    lol

but that is where we do most of our "talking" anyway....most of what we get from people is from thier body language.

    so tech. we already do.

Now I think about it, I can use a fork, a Slinky, a fridge magnet and Donatello the Mutant Ninja Turtle to tell people whether or not the TV is on, what music I'm currently listening to, what I am eating, how much food there is in the house, what my name is, and my feelings about Slinkies.
