Picking a "name" to call someone

I had no idea what to title this...i think they are called Puppy names or something?

But my new boyfriend calls me baby/babe/beautiful/etc. he basically takes them all. lol.

    so my questions are:

1] can you use the same name someone calls you, or is that lame?
2] why aren't any very masculine?

lol. i cant bring myself to call someone who is a boy, who is older then me, baby. lol. is that odd?

    just wondering..

    ..rofl.

"lol. i cant bring myself to call someone who is a boy, who is older then me, baby. lol. is that odd?"

-- IMO, it's odd, TBH. lol.

As for the other questions -- sure, you can use the same thing. There's no law against it. LOL! And I don't know why they're not masculine. rofl.

    ..so, yep. :]

I never called my first bf anything but my second I'd just joke using the names people already called him. For example, he was known as big bird at times because he was over six feet tall with a lot of blonde hair. So if I was joking around, I would call him that. If he already has a name that people joke about you could try that.

anything like that sounds silly coming from me though in my opinion. lol....

My boyfriend calls me babe, hun, love & beautiful/gorgeous. I don't call him hun, but I do call him babe, love & instead of beautiful/gorgeous I say handsome. We also use our abbreviated names; Josh (for Joshua) & Liz (Elizabeth). I'd hate to call him & hate to be called babyyyy... Lol.

And if I can recall I did use handsome, which is a rather masculine term usually used for men (in some cases I've heard used for women). I also saw that someone mentioned, stud & muscles. Not that I'd personally ever call my boyfriend stud or muscles, not that he isn't muscular but I'd only use them if we were just fooling around & pushing each other buttons for fun. I prefer the ones I mentioned above for him more. :)

    Hrm.. lets see here..

My boyfriend's usually call me babe or baby. Sometimes "Gorgeous, love-muffin, beautiful, sweetie, hun/honey, darling, love, sweet heart." Just things like that.

No nickname is really manish because they're meant to be really sweet, from the heart, you know? I have had 19 year old boyfriend's that I call baby. I honestly never thought of it as weird o.O But I guess we all have very different minds, lol.

There is nothing wrong with calling a guy baby... I used to call my bf babe... or honey...
    But it was ok...
I never thought it was weird...
lol... but then again we all think different...
Think of something else... like my ex used to call me muffin pie!! it was so silly but cute!!
    Or pookie bear! Lol...
    But think of something original...

Haha! No offense to anyone but what I find CHEESY is giving a boyfriend or girlfriend nicknames like Honey Muffin or Cuddly Bear [these names acquaintances of mine have actually given each other], etc.! I would be embarrassed if I were the person who received such a nickname & am embarrassed for others. If I don't know you or overhear you use such hilarious kiddy names then I don't care (like how I don't care how some of you have mentioned you & your bf/gf do)! Sometimes my boyfriend does make up a ridiculous name for me just to push my buttons. Grr!

ROFL. Honey Muffin. I would never let anyone call me that. That sounds like cereal. Hahha.

I call him Baby so no I don't think it matters what you call them as long as they're okay with it.

I'm pretty much against [for myself being called..] anything that ends in the following:

    -bear
    -pie
    -muffin

I'm not an animal, thanks. I'm not food, either. rofl.

^ "I'm not an animal, thanks. I'm not food, either. Rofl."

Haha, exactly! I've never seen the need for nicknames such as that. They're NOT cute or sweet! If my boyfriend did use one for me I would know that it would be as a JOKE; which I think nicknames like that are generally or should generally be used for! No, I think I'll stick with more adult & romantic names!

I think you can call your significant other whatever you want, there isn't really any rules to it. Usually inside jokes work best, or just something you think is cute.

I have to admit though, some people are a little over the top. You know, where you have to stifle your giggles when you here them talking to each other. Seems a tad ridiculous, but whatever floats your boat I guess.

Usually I call my boyfriend bugger, dork, funny boy, or my nerd on site. But whatever comes to mind I just throw out there, to be honest.

Lol. I have a nickname for Chris, who I'm not dating, but he's my best friend & we're in love. rofl. Srsly. Unfortunatly, I'd rather not share that name with anyone, mainly because it's silly, and most people would.. take it the wrong way, so I'm not going to say it. lol.
