How's Your Economy?

Just a quick topic, trying to avoid social economics and politics while garnering as much as I can about the wealth background of the P&Q community as I can.

So, if you've read this and your nation hasn't been mentioned yet: how are things looking where you live?

(Note to Americans: if someone's already replied to this thread, there's no need to add anything else. This is just a fun topic to see how people think the world economy is developing. I'm sure we can develop this in another thread, okay?)

    Britain: Looking peaky. Very 1980s.

American. It sucks. There wouldnt be homeless people if the economy was great. Every man, woman and child would have food in thier belly and a roof over thier head.

Australia is slowing a bit, our dollar is falling against the Americans and the credit troubles are brewing over here.

Cambridge in England...pretty good (relatively), you wouldn't think it was a recession. In absolute terms I suppose the cost of living is much higher.

I put through credit applications for customers who want to buy stuff on credit where I work - basically like a loan. HSBC are turning down way more credit applications than they used to. Anything over £1100 is a no go and if your gross household income is less than 30k a year you're gonna be hard-pressed buying anything on credit worth more than £500.

Whereas a few months ago, all this was small talk.

Were doing extremely well in New Zealand. We replaced the dollar with peebles from the beach and now we get a recession only when the tides going out

So the Aussie dollar was 99cents at once stage to the US dollar, but now it's fallen to 63cents. What the hell. I remember reading in the newspaper that they were expecting it to top the US dollar in September, where instead it fell to 80cents.
We could have all been rich over here! Hah.

What about the sheep? Don't they get in the way of the peebles or is that pebbles?
