I recently got out of a relationship.. i fell so hard for this girl... i was ready to lay it all down for her i mean of course not immediately but after we got thru college... she said she wanted the same... and now here i am writing this... my hope hangs by a thread and my spirits are dashed... we still can talk... but it's awkward... what do i do... im afraid that soon ill become someone who has given up on love... if that happens the person i was will no longer exist... if u can't help me.... jus answer me this... why is it that women are always depicted as the ones who want commitment? the ones who want to settle down... in my experience a lot of the time it's the complete opposite... and honestly it's much harder for a guy to admit this...

People are people, like That One Guy said, "No one gender is better with commitment than the other." It's just women are potrayed as more emotional which people have translated it to become what we see now.
You seem to be a very good person, giving up on love would be giving up on not only your own happiness but also a very lucky woman. Just because you had something special that didn't work out, just imagine how amazing it will be once you find the right girl for you.
    best of luck

K, cheesy as it sound once i saw this episode of Dawson's Creek and there was a saying in it; "Hope dies last" I just really liked it and i think that if you still have hope... things will turn out alright.
